From Duality to Unity

There are fundamental questions that have accompanied humanity since the outset of our history. Questions that gave rise to philosophy, science and art, our most ambitious efforts to understand the mechanisms that rule our lives. During most of that quest it has been clear that the universe is governed by hidden but latent symmetries. There is an order that is not evident to us, but that is indeed perceptible.

This order is related to the supreme symmetry that existed in the universe before the Big Bang, when the four fundamental interactions of physics were one, something that scientists seek to transcribe in what is known as “The God Equation.”

The lines and shapes that we see in the pieces of this exhibition are a visual alphabet that Mario Arroyave received in his meditations of the past year and later discovered that this alphabet mirrors the scientific portrayals of gravitational waves, elementary particles, wormholes and the strings that make up the universe. The works in this exhibition are a personal journal of the artist that recounts our collective quest to decipher the interactions of the universe. The search for the connection with the whole. The search for unity.
